HAFIZABAD/PUNJAB – PAKISTAN: Former Pakistan Test batsman Shoaib Mohammad will make his announcement soon on the top 14 players from the recently concluded Major Cricket League (MCL) tournament which took place in Hafizabad, Pakistan.

The tournament which was won by the Lahore Lions franchise brought to the fore many promising cricketers who caught the eye during the tournament. Mahammad Qureshi, the American businessman who was the driving force behind this tournament had asked Mohammad, the former Test batsman to be the chief selector for this tournament. Mohammad,  travelled to Hafizabad and would have witnessed many of the matches first hand. The top players selected by Mohammad will get an opportunity to play at the popular US Open T20 and other American leagues.

The hunt for top players in Pakistan will be a year-round effort as Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) will support the MCL to have tournaments in major cities across the Pakistan. The next MCL is already scheduled to take place in Hyderabad.

The aim according to Qureshi is to give as many Pakistanis a chance at taking their game to the next level. The players in Pakistan have tremendous talent and some don’t have a platform in which to showcase their wares. MCL will ensure that they get the chance to take their game to the next level and all those deserving a spot overseas to play, will get it.

Qureshi said give the level of integrity always displayed by Shoaib, he was the best man to ensure that the best players got the chance and the selection was fair. Over the next few days, the 14 players will be identified and made public.
